Bird possesses a natural talent. Her sensitive nature evidences itself in the subjects and style of her paintings. Her favorite subjects are animals and she portrays the personality of a pet with great sensitivity and honesty. Natures world of landscapes, flowers and of course, her own pets never fail to provide inspiration for new paintings.

She promotes and attends a variety of workshops to expand her understanding of art and to continue gaining new ideas. Bird has an AAS degree in Visual Media Design Technology. She continually shares with others and currently teaches classes in watercolor, drawing, oils and acrylics.
She has studied Watercolors with Elizabeth Kincaid. Diane Maxey, Lian Zhen, Ron Ranson. Charles Reid. Tom Lynch., Stan Miller and is a certified Terry Madden instructor.

In 2007, when she saw a demonstration on Art Clay Silver, she soon became a Art Clay Silver Level One instructor. And soon to became a senior instructor in Art Clay.

Shirley is a member of the Spokane Watercolor Society and of the Montana Watercolor Society.

Her wish is to reach everyone through her art and to make the world a little friendlier and brighter each day.

Artist Statement
I believe that as an artist, it is a gift to create and share my ideas with others and that my work will travel where it needs to go and be seen by those who need need to see it.
